“OKAGESAMA no Mori” is a collaborative initiative bringing together coffee lovers everywhere to create a sustainable coffee ecosystem.

At the heart of this initiative is gratitude – for the land that nurtures coffee cherries, the people who harvest and process them into green coffee beans, those who transport them across borders, the roasters who bring out their flavors, and everyone who takes a moment to enjoy each cup. By cultivating this cycle of appreciation, we aim to create an enduring coffee culture that extends to the earth and future generations. In Japanese, “Mori” means forest, and it symbolizes this vision: a rich, interwoven ecosystem where diverse plants and wildlife support one another and thrive together.

Implement the project

Plant a tree, shape the future

Through "OKAGESAMA no Mori," we express gratitude to coffee producers in the form of a participation fee. When buying green coffee, you can opt into a curator’s project. These contributions fund forest-related initiatives designed by curators to improve coffee sustainability.

By creating forests with producers, participants sustain the cycle of gratitude captured in the Japanese concept of Okagesama. We believe this cycle nurtures a sustainable coffee ecosystem, helping to strengthen communities, protect nature, and ensure future generations can continue enjoying great coffee.

Tall trees, known as shade trees, are essential for growing great coffee. They protect coffee plants and workers from direct sunlight, enrich the soil, and absorb greenhouse gases. As a way to give back, curators plant trees on farms and other areas, fostering a thriving, sustainable ecosystem.

We envision a future where lush forests stretch across the Coffee Belt, circling the Earth, and a cycle of gratitude spreads across the world.
