TYPICA Receives the Executive Committee Special Award “SDGs Business Award” at the 13th Good Life Award by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment
TYPICA has been honored with the Executive Committee Special Award, the “SDGs Business Award,” at the 13th Good Life Award organized by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. The award recognizes activities and initiatives across Japan that contribute to “environmentally and socially responsible lifestyles” and aims to promote and celebrate efforts that advance an eco-friendly society.
The Good Life Award is a project designed to support activities that encourage environmentally and socially beneficial living, as well as provide a platform for exchanging information that revitalizes communities. The initiative seeks to inspire individuals in Japan to re-examine their lifestyles and highlights key reasons behind the success of various sustainability initiatives while broadly sharing the thoughts and concerns people have regarding social issues.
The Ministry of the Environment positions the concept of a “Regional Circulating and Ecological Sphere” as a local SDG model under the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It promotes this vision through awareness-raising efforts and by supporting the formation of decentralized, self-sustaining communities. The Good Life Award serves as the Ministry’s official recognition program within this broader initiative.
The “SDGs Business Award,” presented by Mr. Toru Mori, President of Alterna, recognizes businesses whose initiatives are rooted in an “outside-in” approach to the SDGs—addressing social issues as the starting point for business innovation.
TYPICA operates an online platform that enables coffee producers and roasters from 111 countries to trade green coffee beans directly. By helping both producers and roasters improve their profitability and support their local economies, and by operating the “OKAGESAMA” project—an initiative to nurture forests essential to coffee production together with everyone involved in coffee—TYPICA aims to strengthen the sustainability of delicious coffee and contribute to a decentralized, self-sustaining society. This recognition further encourages us to advance our mission.
