TYPICA’s Africa Initiatives Featured in JETRO Special Report
On May 2, 2025, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) featured an article on its website highlighting TYPICA’s initiatives in Africa.
JETRO, a government-affiliated agency that promotes Japanese trade and investment, published the article as part of a special feature titled “Japanese Startups Taking on the Future of Africa and Japan.” The piece, titled “TYPICA Connects Coffee Producers and Buyers Through Direct Trade (Africa),” introduces TYPICA’s efforts in the African market following its selection for the second round of the “Japan Tech Africa Challenge” program.
In the article, TYPICA Social Impact Officer Shizuka Funayama says: “Over the past five years, we’ve expanded our network to 95 countries and regions, including coffee-producing nations in Africa. This experience has reaffirmed the importance of building strong relationships with producers. To realize TYPICA’s vision of enhancing the sustainability of delicious coffee, we believe it’s essential to nurture local communities involved in production and distribution, and to foster a resilient, sustainable ecosystem at origin.”
TYPICA will continue working to support coffee producers and promote a sustainable global coffee industry by strengthening its local presence worldwide, including in Africa, through its innovative direct trade platform.
